I have but many dreams and ambitions in life, and here is where I collect these thoughts. November 2013 "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." ~Nelson Mandala I am beginning to see some great progress for What Makes Us Tic! Just recently I was accepted to "pitch" at a social innovation pitch competition in my city, the Okanagan Changemakers ChangeUp Pitch Event. It was very nerve-racking preparing for this event, but in the end it was a very cool opportunity! Social Change has become quite the trend lately, from TED Talks to pitch events, it is really interesting to see those individuals who are making change finally get some light, and those up and coming innovators as well ;-) I ended up winning third place in the youth catagory, I now have $100 which I can put towards the project, but from this event, I actually had the purpose and need for this project reinstated to me: so many people do not know what Tourette Syndrome is, nor understand the importance of raising awareness and education for it, and thus so many children and adults are judged and misunderstood because of their disorder. During the event I even had one person make a derogatory remark about TS, and although it took all I could muster not to blatantly (and rudely) correct the man on the spot, it fueled my fire in a way, making me that much more passionately driven towards this project, and the cause of Tourette Syndrome Awareness in general! I believe there is great change on the horizon for TS, and the sun keeps rising with every new person who makes a difference for TS! August 2013 That being said, I am taking this project a lot more seriously than the last, so I am raising funds on Indiegogo to cover my production costs. This is a very important project to me, and any others who want to raise awareness of Tourette Syndrome, therefore I would really appreciate your support towards my documentary!!! July, 2012 I would like to announce that my Tourette Syndrome documentary, "What Makes Us Tic", is now up on YouTube! This last year working on the documentary has definitely been a rewarding one, but I'm not afraid to say that I'm glad to see it finished!!! What Makes Us Tic, A Tourette Syndrome documentary |
